Make birthday cards for homeless kids to make their special day memorable!

Essay writing competition.

EDYCS Epilepsy Group in collaboration with the IBE Africa Region invites young people aged between 18-24 living in the Republic of Mauritius & Rodrigues to participate in an essay writing competition. 

Essay topic: “The challenges faced by People with Epilepsy in their daily livings and how they can live normal lives.”

 The three (3) Best Nominees will be invited for an interactive discussions in front of the jury panel. 

They will make a short presentation during the award ceremony.

Essay requirements

- Written in English Language

+ Maximum 1,000 words can be typed or handwritten with legible handwriting

+ Essays should not have been previously published and that the essay is the Entrant’s original, unaided work.

+ One submission per participant

+ Essay should be accompanied by a cover page with the name of the participant, age, address and contact

details.

+ A jury panel will evaluate all the essays and only the three (3) best will be retained.

The winners of the competition will receive trophies, in-kind awards and certificates.

All other participants will also receive a Certificate of participation.

anAngel and supportive partner organisations are launching a mentoring program for NGOs.

NGOs affected by COVID-19 are facing financial challenges. Even in normal times, many NGOs lack resources and access to professional guidance.

This program provides the opportunity for individuals to give their time to mentor NGOs so they can do better and bigger.

Studies have shown that many NGOs do not have the required necessary resources to achieve their objectives. They need guidance and an efficient group of professional members who are able

The NGO 'Association Bien-être de Mahebourg' in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Mahebourg is organising a training for youth leaders in the following:

2. Discipline

3. Cigarettes

4. Alcohol and Drugs

The training will comprise of 4 sessions and will be held as follows:

About - Paint to Educate Project 

Team Partaz Enn Sourire is looking for volunteer artists willing to participate in School Mural Painting campaign in the District of Savanne. The project is geared towards using Art as a form of communication to educate, sensitize and create awareness on life values & social issues for school kids as much as for all the stakeholders in the community. Art projects come and go; but murals are here to stay. They are a legacy, a means for students, staffs, and the people to communicate from generation to generation. We believe murals can be used as an artistic dialogue serving to educate, inspire and empower present and future student populations. 

The Science Behind Use of Wall School Murals 

There's a lot of science that backs using wall murals in schools. For example: 

• Approximately 65% of the population are visual learners
• Research shows that we process visual information about 60,000 times faster than text
• Dr Lynell Burmark, Ph.D. Associate at the Thornburg Centre for Professional Development visual learning and co-author of ‘Visual Literacy: Learn to See, See to Learn’, says that, “Unless our words, concepts, ideas are hooked onto an image, they will go in one ear, sail through the brain, and go out the other ear.”

In other words, visuals not only help more pupils learn faster, but they also help pupils retain information longer.

Objectives

A quick list of the objectives are: 

1. Positive Messaging - Inspirational phrases/ Empowering Words that can help redirect focus and attention. 
2. Place Activation - By painting a mural it can change the atmosphere of the space it is painted. 
3. Mind Programming - Seeing positive/ empowering words continuously for a certain period of time leads to a brain/subconscious programming of beliefs which we want to influence by making it a positive one.

Looking for design students to create one piece of furniture for our students.

We, the Association Pour Les Handicapés De Malherbes (APLHDM), are looking for volunteers, preferably those specialised in design/architecture,  to build one piece of furniture to be used in our school.

How to participate?

Plant a tree at your place (It can be any type of plant- fruit plant, vegetable, flowers...). Context
The idea is to make everyone realise the importance of trees in our lives. It is also to show how a small action can create so much impact, but most importantly we want everyone to share that amazing feeling we get after putting our hands in the soil and planting a tree.

Description:

Food, bedding, and other supplies are required by animal shelters. Many require veterinary care, medical attention. Your contributions will assist in providing the care that abandoned animals require until a suitable home can be found for them. 

Ø Objective: To help animals in need by providing them with adequate food and shelter.

If you have pets that you want to sterilize, kindly mention the details in the chat below. We also encourage volunteers to come forward and help us sterilize stray animals in their locality.
If we have a large number of volunteers, we shall arrange a mobile bus to facilitate transportation.
