Info

Description

Dr. Djéa Saravane is an internationally renowned physician specializing in autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and pain management.

He was formerly head of department at the Centre Régional Douleur et Soins Somatiques en Santé Mentale et Autisme at EPS Barthélemy Durand, in France, and has dedicated his career to improving access to care for people with mental and cognitive disabilities.

He is one of the founders of ANP3SM (Association Nationale pour la Promotion des Soins Somatiques en Santé Mentale) and has been involved in training caregivers internationally.

Somatic care refers to all physical (or bodily) care given to a person, in connection with his or her general state of health - such as care related to pain, digestive, cardiovascular, neurological disorders and so on.

For people with autism, this care is often neglected or poorly adapted, due to a lack of specific training for healthcare professionals.

Dr Saravane advocates a more humane, integrative approach tailored to their specific needs.

His commitment has earned him several distinctions, including the Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur.

Through his research and actions in the field, he has made a profound contribution to the recognition of the importance of somatic care for people with autism, emphasizing that their physical health is as important as their psychological care.
