Unlock funding opportunities to power your purpose-driven projects
Every year, companies in Mauritius allocate millions of rupees to support NGOs and social initiatives under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) framework. Additionally, various local and international grants are available to help your organisation thrive β but accessing these funds requires preparation, compliance, and a clear strategy.
This guide is your step-by-step resource to becoming CSR-eligible and securing grant funding for your NGO or project.
Before you can apply for CSR or grant funds, your organisation must be legally registered in Mauritius under one of the following:
Register your organisation as a non-profit association.
π Visit: https://www.registerofassociations.govmu.org
Register as a Company Limited by Guarantee (CLG). This structure is often preferred for larger-scale NGOs, especially those applying for international funding.
π Visit: https://companies.govmu.org
π‘ Tip: Avoid registering as a Company Limited by Shares if your aim is to access CSR or non-profit grants β this is a commercial structure.
To be eligible for CSR funds, your organisation must be accredited by the National Social Inclusion Foundation (NSIF).
Go to: https://www.nsif.mu
Click on NGO Registration
Prepare all required documents: Constitution, Board details, audited accounts, proof of activities, etc.
Submit online and follow up.
Once registered, your NGO receives a NSIF Certificate β this is mandatory to access CSR funds from the private sector.
To attract CSR or grant funding, your project must be:
Well-researched and evidence-based
Focused on clear social or environmental impact
Aligned with NSIFβs 12 priority areas (such as environment, poverty alleviation, women empowerment, etc.)
SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Time-bound)
